Looking for a small lathe that can be "tricked out" by adding riser blocks under the head and tail stocks as well as tool rest to gain an additional 6" swing over bed, and this looks like a possible candidate.

Lathes have been around for a very long time ..
Historical evidence of lathes being used to turn wood & stone in ancient cultures
Man powered lathes w/ cranks ropes & flywheels are known to be used througout ancient history all over the world.
Couple of thousand years at least,
Exact date & by whom....?
Tried searching ancient technology?

Sounds like the part could be the spindle. The manual should have a parts list and picture to help identify the parts. If there is no manual I would suggest looking around and/or asking on the Old Woodworking Machines website (link below) If I recall correctly the Power-Kraft name was a Montgomery Wards brand back in the early to mid 1900's. Since the demise of MW the ToolKraft company handles parts, etc... Their website is also linked below.

There is tons of information online regarding lathes. Just type "lathe parts" or "woodworking lathe" and choose from thousands of sites with information, pictures, videos (youtube is great for this) etc...
